The Combination Brow

Combination Brows are a hybrid of the digital nano-hair stroke technique and machine Ombré shading. Nano hair strokes are placed at the front of the brow in a strategic pattern to mimic the natural hair growth. Ombré shading adds both structure and fullness to the body and tail of the brow, graduating from light to dark. You can expect a defined brow with plenty of depth and coverage.

Hair Stroke Tattoo Eyebrows

Hair Stroke Tattoo Eyebrows are perfect for adding texture without committing to a sharp or ultra-defined Ombré or Combination brow. You can choose either a textured, fluffy hair stroke brow or a neat, precise nano hair stroke brow. We’ll use a digital machine to create hair strokes that are strategically placed throughout the brow to give the illusion of natural hairlike fullness and depth to craft the perfect Hair Stroke Tattoo Eyebrows.

Powder Brows & Ombre Brows

Powder Brows and Ombre Brows create a soft, misty and fluffy finish which compliments the natural shape and colour of the brow. It gives great depth and definition thanks to the technique of using a soft diluted pixelation of colour at the front of the brow with a slowly increasing gradient that produces a darker colour at the tail of the brow.

Hyperrealism Brows London

The technique with Hyperrealism Brows is incredibly important. Rather than tattooing individual hair strokes onto the skin (as seen in the Hair Stroke Brow) we tattoo wispy, overlapping hairstokes in a unique pattern to mimic the natural movement and direction of real eyebrow hairs. This carefully mapped pattern builds in intensity in the middle of the eyebrow to create a hyper-realistic 3D effect.

Frequently asked questions about SPMU Brow Treatments

What are Semi Permanent Brows?

Semi Permanent Brows are a form of cosmetic tattooing that can last up to several years. All Semi Permanent Brows (including Hyperrealism Brows, Hairstroke Brows, Combination Brows, Powder Brows and Ombre Brows) are achieved by depositing microdots and/or strokes of pure, hypoallergenic pigment epidermal skin (the outermost skin layer).

Am I suitable for Semi Permanent Brows?

Most people are suitable for Semi Permanent Brows. During your initial appointment, Calla will explore which treatment and technique is best suited to you. You’ll discuss your expectations, desired Semi Permanent Brow results and any aspects of your brows you wish to correct or balance. We’ll also thoroughly explain the Semi Permanent Makeup process from start to finish.

How long do Semi Permanent Brows last?

Every client’s results may vary, but Semi Permanent Brows can last anywhere between 1-3 years. We recommend a follow up appointment 4-6 weeks following your initial treatment, but sometimes this isn’t required. A touch up will help prolong the life of the colour. After this first initial touch up, you shouldn’t need a colour boost for approximately 12-18 months. It’s important to note that daily activities such as workouts, sun exposure, facial exfoliating and medications can cause premature lightening of your Semi Permanent Brows.

Semi Permanent Lip Blush

Lip blushing is a type of Semi Permanent Makeup. Also commonly called lip tattooing, Lip Blushing is a cosmetic tattoo that enhances your natural lip colour, improves the shape of the lips, gives definition and the illusion of fullness. Lasting between 2-3 years, a lip blush treatment creates the effect of a defined lip border which can often diminish with skin ageing, dermal fillers and/or scarring. Lip blushing seeks to rejuvenate the lips by replenishing colour loss and adding plumpness. This style of tattoo mimics the look of a lip tint and the healed treatment will look both natural and transparent in colour with no harsh outlines.

Lip Neutralisation

Unlike regular lip blush treatments, lip neutralising is a highly specialised technique used to correct pigmentation in the lips and lighten darker lips.

The procedure can result in a different lip colour or can be used to enhance the natural lip colour depending on the client’s preferences.

It can also add more fullness and definition to the lips along with correcting any asymmetry. The results are customised for each client in order to ensure that the individual desired effect is achieved.

Ombré Lip Blush

The Ombré lip blush technique is one of the newest methods of lip tattooing. Using up to three different bespoke pigment combinations we create a harmonious gradient that is lightest in the centre of the lip. It creates an illusion of fuller looking lips by adding dimension and depth. The choice of pigments will depend on your desired final result and Calla will guide you through different options that will result in a natural wash of Ombré colour.

Frequently asked questions about SPMU Lip Treatments

What is a Lip Blush treatment?

A Lip Blush treatment is a type of Semi Permanent Makeup. Semi Permanent Makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing that can last up to several years. In lip blushing, semi permanent colour is implanted into the epidermal skin to provide even, enhanced colouring. Following lip blushing you can expect volumised lips that will settle and fade slightly as the treatment heals.

Can I still have a Lip Blush treatment if I have had lip filler?

Yes, you absolutely can! Having lip filler (or Dermal Filler) doesn’t interfere with the lip blush tattooing process, or your results. The only catch is that your lip filler and Lip Blush treatment MUST be at least four weeks apart to minimise trauma to the lip tissue.

I suffer from cold sores, can I still have a Lip Blush treatment, liner or neutralising?

Semi permanent cosmetic treatments do not cause cold sores. However, if you carry the Herpes Simplex virus, it lays dormant in the body and can be inflamed by sunlight, stress and/or tissue trauma. This means that if you have a history of cold sores, we recommend visiting your GP to obtain the appropriate medication to prevent outbreaks. Your GP may recommend starting a course of antiviral medication on the morning of your lip blush treatment (typically 200 mg of Acyclovir twice a day for five days).

SPMU Lash Enhancement Techniques

The most subtle Semi Permanent Eyeliner Makeup is a Lashline enhancement. It helps to create the illusion of fuller and thicker-looking lashes to create beautiful, naturally defined eyes. Our Lashline treatment is a thin eyeliner carefully placed within the upper lash line.

Classic Eyeliner

The perfect mix of subtlety and enhancement is our Classic Eyeliner. Placement involves shading along the lashline, above the lashline and adding a delicate wing to the outer corner of the eye. You can also opt for a bolder liquid liner effect to create a sharper and more defined look.

Smoked Eyeliner

Ultra soft shading gives a smoky effect that takes the edge off the Classic Eyeliner. Smoked Eyeliner can be worn with or without makeup, providing a chic and subtle lifting effect to the eye. There’s plenty of flexibility when it comes to ombre eyeliner from subtle through to dramatic. All Smoked Eyeliner follows the same shape giving the illusion of a progressively vanished edge and inner eye taper.

What should I expect on the day of my Semi Permanent Makeup treatment?

For new Semi Permanent Makeup procedures we allow approximately two and a half hours to ensure you receive a detailed and personalised consultation. Our priority is achieving the look that you desire (safely!), so we’ll give our experienced recommendations for shape and colour. Under the terms of our insurance, you’ll be required to make a medical declaration of general health and to give us permission to perform the Semi Permanent Makeup treatment on your behalf.

Semi Permanent Makeup tattooing will not start until the final pre-draw design and pigment colour is agreed on and you love it. Throughout your treatment, you should only feel a slight vibrating and/or scratching sensation and we’ll do everything we can to keep you as comfortable as possible. We’ll always manage your expectations and won’t start a treatment if we don’t believe that Semi Permanent Makeup is the right solution for you.

How should I prepare for my Semi Permanent Makeup treatment?

– Do not consume caffeine or alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment to prevent excessive pain and bleeding.

– Do not consume Aspirin or other blood thinners such as Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen (unless medically necessary), 48-72 hrs prior to your procedure. Extra strength Paracetamol can be taken if you have a low pain tolerance. Do not discontinue any prescribed medication before first consulting your GP.

– Avoid exercising the day of the procedure.

– Do not undertake any chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, micro-needling, retinol treatments, Vitamin E treatments or facial laser hair removal at least four weeks prior to your appointment.

– Please read the aftercare and arrange your schedule according to the healing requirements of your Semi Permanent Makeup treatment. There is downtime for every procedure.

Will I need a touch up session?

Semi Permanent Makeup procedures usually require two treatments: an initial procedure plus a retouch treatment within 4-6 weeks of your initial appointment. This will help us achieve optimum results. Semi Permanent Makeup is (and should be) a gradual process because every person’s skin is different. Splitting the treatment into parts allows us to assess how well your individual skin retains the colour and make adjustments as necessary so that your Semi Permanent Makeup will be as long-lasting and beautiful as possible! How long your Semi Permanent Makeup lasts depends on a number of factors including how fair or dark your skin is, your general lifestyle, skin type and daily sun exposure.

It is advisable that you book your retouch at the time of your initial appointment to make sure your treatment plan is firmly in place. Alternatively, retouch appointments can be made online by clicking here. This is the easiest and simplest way to book and will provide you with the most up to date availability.

Should I have a patch test prior to treatment?

Yes, all new clients undertaking a treatment with Facelab™ London will be required to do a patch test 48 hours before their appointment. You can purchase a home patch test kit from our online shop.
